John Bailey Guitar Duo
John studied at Leeds College of Music where he received a Masters in performance specialising in Jazz. He has received tuition from some of the most respected musicians such as Mike Moreno (NYC), Mike Walker (UK) and Wolfgang Muthspiel (Austria). John's compositions are a reflection of his broad and eclectic musical taste. He manages to blend classical, jazz, and folk music together and also adds his unique improvisational voice to solo sections. With an unusual combination of 7 string nylon guitar and drums the music offers a fresh perspective on written and improvised music.
Virtuoso Drummer Steve ‘Chief’ Hanley is a recent 1st class honours graduate from Leeds College of Music., and is part of a fresh generation of up and coming musicians from the northern quarter of the UK. Hanley has performed and collaborated with many prestigious players including Stuart McCallum (Cinematic Orchestra), Jim Corby (Jamiroquai), Jamil Sheriff and Tori Freestone (London’s Loop Collective) to name a few. Hanley’s approach to today’s collaboration generates a unique voice, through intrinsic grooves and melodic improvisation.
Today John will be performing original compositions and some 'standards' although not all from the Jazz repertoire.
