International Jazz Day 2017 - Thomas Gould & Gwilym Simcock

Produced for International Jazz Day by the University of Hull School of Drama, Music and Screen in association with J-Night:

We’re celebrating UNESCO International Jazz Day 2017 with an exhilarating genre-bending concert.  Gould and Simcock, both well known in their respective fields of classical and jazz, explore the intersections between classical and jazz. Drawing on Sonatas for Violin and Keyboard by J. S. Bach, as well as other arrangements by Simcock (‘a creative genius’ according to Chick Corea), this will be a wonderful exploration of Bach’s influence and music.

Programme to include:

Bach: Sonata for violin and keyboard 1 in B minor, BWV 1014
Bach: Sonata for violin and keyboard 4 in C minor, BWV 1017
Bach: arr. Simcock, Wachet Auf, ruft uns die Stimme, BWV 645
Bach: arr. Simcock, Jesus bleibet meine Freude, BWV 147
