Paul Taylor - Jazz in Hull: People and Places
Jazz trombonist, composer and poet Paul Taylor first began playing jazz in Hull in the 1970s. Encouraged by many local musicians and band leaders, he was active on the Hull music scene for several years before moving to London, where his reputation soon developed.
In recent years, he’s performed with Loose Tubes, Roberto Pla’s Latin Ensemble and the Mingus Big Band. His Jazz in Hull: People & Places Suite is a tribute to the local performers who encouraged him and to the venues where they played.
Jazz in Hull is presented in association with Hulljazz and with thanks to Dave Ellis. It was originally commissioned by Humber Mouth in 2014.
This performance of Jazz in Hull: People & Places is dedicated to the memory of Ken Ford.
